ABOUT
The Johnston Collection is an exhibition-house of fine and decorative arts centred in an historic Melbourne townhouse Fairhall. Visitors have opportunities to discover, experience and engage with the Collection through a dynamic temporary exhibition program based on the permanent collection. The museum invites creatives from the broader visual arts and design communities to re-intepret the Collection and also offers special tours, study days and lectures throughout the year. Bequeathed to the people of Victoria by William Robert Johnston (1911-1986), a prominent collector and antique dealer, the Collection is predominantly of the English Georgian, Regency and Louis XV periods.
